remember when you put your glasses on for the first time and you realized you could see leaves on trees
how many fucking people on this website wear glasses jfc
it’s always the leaves oh my god
it was streetlights for me
Rocks on the ground for me.
Trees on the mountains.
I was really excited to find out that grass is made of individual pieces.
People have faces.
before glasses, I couldn’t read most signs because they were very blurry.
there is information everywhere, and it is shining, and I am still not able to stop trying to drink all of it.
the FIRST time? EVERY time i get a new prescription/new pair of glasses. it is always “the trees! they have leaves!” in my house.
"everything is so sharp it’s glowing"
I’m a weird case in this one because I’m only slightly nearsighted. Glasses are the difference between “read the smallish words on the overhead projector while squinting” and “read the smallish words on the overhead projector without squinting” for me.
So it was, “…this is like when we went over to digital TV, isn’t it? Analog is gonna seem weird and blurry once I get used to it.”
I can’t clearly see my own hand in front of my face when I hold it five inches away from my nose. So, the first time I got glasses I was in fourth grade I believe… maybe third, but I think it was more likely the last half of fourth. I think it was words that changed everything, I had been put int the ‘you’re so stupid you have to read 1rst grader books’ section of the class. Then I got glasses and suddenly I could read, suddenly I understood, and suddenly I became a writer as well.
The second/third things I noticed is being able to see the trees on the hillsides and the veins on a butterfly’s wings.
